Business Diplomacy Conference 2018 – as part of the Diplomacy360 Program, is an outstanding international event at its third edition, where 200 diplomats, business people, decision-makers in Romanian and international companies and other international relations experts from Romania and abroad announced their participation.

The 20 speakers of the Conference will discuss about the ways in which the leaders interested to become more competitive in their activity, can utilize methods and techniques from diplomacy, in order to anticipate threats and exploit new opportunities arising from geopolitical changes, to avoid conflicts and make strategic alliances to protect their interests, solve problems and develop international organizations and businesses.

The International Diplomacy360 / Business Diplomacy Program is more than a Business and Diplomacy Conference – but represents the key towards a sophisticated international community

” Become the Ambassador of your Organization”

THE BENEFITS OF ATTENDING THE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS CONFERENCE DIPLOMACY 2018

At the International Business Diplomacy Conference 2018, the participants can see the world beyond appearances, through the eyes of diplomats that are specially educated to solve critical situations and develop relationships in a global environment characterised by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity, as this is the new normality. Business paradigms are changing rapidly, being sensitively influenced by geo-political, technological and economic factors that are not related to the national context only. These changes can generate both threats and opportunities for companies.

The international perspective is increasingly important for any organization.

Companies need to collaborate with governments and diplomats, NGOs and other local and international economic influential groups to maintain and develop their market place and solve problems whose solving is no longer only in their power.

In order to operate sustainably and protect their interests in the markets, companies need to develop internal competencies that enable them to create, cultivate and manage high-level relationships with interest groups, governmental, non-governmental and private factors that are influential and relevant to the company’s activity.

This requires a way of being.

Diplomacy can provide visionary businessmen with kind of tools and methods that they need to succeed in the 21st Century. Diplomat-businessman relationship is mutually beneficial.

The conference addresses to business representatives willing to improve their ability to anticipate new challenges and exploit business opportunities, to diplomats and other international relations experts as well as to professionals from other fields interested in the synergies between diplomacy and business, culture, city administration , digital and cyber, media & jounalism, sports. Last but not least, the event is also recommended to young people in exploration of new professional levels.

The speeches will be presented both in English and Romanian language as the case may be, with simultaneous interpretation RO/EN.

dr. h.c. Ioan HOLENDER

Holender was born in Timişoara, Romania. His family is of Jewish ancestry, and growing up, he spoke three languages. His father owned a factory in Timișoara, which was expropriated in 1948. Holender studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara. He worked as a tennis coach and a director’s assistant until he and his family emigrated to Austria, where his mother was residing. He intended to continue his engineering studies, but became interested in singing. After completing his music studies, he was an operatic baritone and concert singer with the Klagenfurt Stadttheater.

In 1966, he began to work at the Starka theatrical agency, which he eventually took over and whose prestige he increased.

In 1988, Eberhard Waechter named Holender as Secretary-General of the Vienna State Opera, effective as of 1991. Eventually, Holender dissociated himself from the Starka business. After Waechter’s death in February 1992, Holender became Director of the Vienna State Opera on 1 April 1992. He also led the Vienna Volksoper for 4 years simultaneously. Holender’s contract was extended three times and concluded on 31 August 2010. He is the longest-serving general director in the history of the Vienna State Opera.

Ioan Holender is advisor of the Metropolitan Opera New York and the Spring Festival Tokyo and artistic director of the George Enescu Festival Bucharest. He is a lecturer at the University of Vienna and at the Danube University Krems. Further he is a jury member for several international singing-competitions. He also has his own cultural-magazine on the Austrian TV-channel ServusTV.
